Co-authoring involves working with someone, usually a public figure, who
wants to write a book but doesn't have the requisite writing experience.
In that capacity I wrote two books with talk show host Larry King and
co-authored the autobiographies of musicians Frank Zappa and Michael
Feinstein. More recently, I completely revised and rewrote the manuscript
of an important new book on the treatment of arthritis by Vijay Vad, MD, a
leading sports medicine doctor at New York's Hospital for Special Surgery,
entitled Arthritis Rx (Gotham Books)
I have written several books of my own about the varieties of American
spiritual experience, including Once A Catholic (Houghton
Mifflin/Ballantine) and Through the Labyrinth (Penguin), as well as a
popular guide to the world's religions entitled The Joy of Sects
(Doubleday/Image). And I have co-authored or assisted a number of writers
with books in the spiritual field, including Caroline Myss's Why People
Don't Heal and Sacred Contracts (Harmony) and her forthcoming book for Hay
House, Defy Gravity (Sept. 2009). I also co-authored a series of books
on healing by Ron Roth, including The Healing Path of Prayer (Harmony),
Prayer and the Five Stages of Healing and 3 other books (Hay House).
Three of the books I co-authored have become New York Times Best Sellers.
